Mark Convery scored an 85th-minute winner to help promotion-chasing Cambridge secure a vital win. The hosts began well and took the lead on 23 minutes lead through striker Lee McEvilly, who converted Scott Rendell's cross from six yards.
Little levelled when he latched on to Joe O'Neill's cross and beat goalkeeper Danny Potter with a low 12-yard drive.
But just as Altrincham thought they had salvaged a point Convery netted a stunning 25-yard right-footed winner.
