Two second-half strikes from Martyn Woolford salvaged a point for York after a Colin Little double had put Altrincham in the driving seat. Little put his side in front in the 40th minute with a sweet left-footed strike from the edge of the area.
And he made it 2-0 when he headed in Ryan Toulson's floated free-kick.
But Woolford pulled a goal back when he pounced on a through-ball from Emmanuel Panther and equalised two minutes later when he drilled in from six yards.
