A Jonny Dixon goal in the dying moments moved Aldershot to the top of the table against 10-man Halifax. Halifax striker Simon Heslop, brought on at half-time to bolster the away side's attacking options, handled in the box to concede a penalty.
Rhys Day stepped up to take the kick but drove it wide of the target.
Jake Wright saw red for the visitors and as the home side continued to press, Dixon drilled into the net five minutes into stoppage time.
