Phil Trainer grabbed the only goal of a hard-fought match to give Oxford maximum points at struggling Farsley. Lee Tuck came closest for the home side, hitting the crossbar and a post either side of half-time with volleys from the edge of the area.
At the other end, the visitors missed a number of excellent chances.
But Trainer made one count when he pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the area and drilled a right-footed strike into the bottom corner.
