Burton won a one-sided contest with two second-half goals in the space of five minutes from Mark Greaves and Shaun Harrad against a lacklustre Droylsden. Home keeper Phil Senior kept Droylsden in the game with a fine save from John Brayford before tipping a fierce effort from John McGrath around the post.
Ryan Taylor smashed over before Greaves struck on 74 minutes with a glancing header from Keith Gilroy's free-kick.
Harrad curled the second in after McGrath's corner was cleared his way.
