Rushden and Diamonds wasted several chances to grab victory as they were held to a draw by Burton at Nene Park. Martin Foster, Michael Rankine, Michael Malcolm, Simeon Jackson, Lee Tomlin and Andrew Burgess all wasted chances to score for the home side.
John McGrath came close with a 27th minute free-kick as Burton felt their way into the clash.
McGrath nearly grabbed a winner 15 seconds into stoppage time, but the midfielder's shot flew over the bar.
