Promotion-favourites Stevenage eased to victory at Droylsden despite playing 45 minutes with 10 men. Borough played the second half a man down after Stuart Lewis saw red for a foul on Gareth Morris on half-time.
But they took the lead on 54 minutes when Daryl McMahon guided the ball home from 12 yards and Craig Dobson knocked in the second from close range.
The win was sealed late on when Adam Miller was fouled in the area and John Nutter blasted home the spot-kick.
