Halifax veteran striker Steve Torpey came off the substitute's bench to earn his team a point. Torpey scored from the penalty spot with 16 minutes left after Andy Campbell had fouled Michael Corcoran.
Oxford had taken the lead after 51 minutes when Robert Duffy ended a superb move with a great finish.
Paul Shaw beat two players before passing to Duffy, who side-stepped Adam Quinn's tackle and slipped the ball home from 15 yards.
