Mark Wright struck a 54th-minute winner to hand Crawley victory at basement outfit Tamworth. Steve Evans went close before Wright produced an outstanding 18-yard strike into the top corner to plunge Tamworth deeper into the relegation mire.
Tamworth should have equalised when Crawley goalkeeper Ben Hamer fouled Steve Burton inside the 18-yard box.
But the Lambs' misery was complete when Taiwo Atieno's 79th-minute penalty was denied by a fine Hamer save.
