John Grant popped up with an 88th minute winner to earn Aldershot a victory which stretches Rushden's winless Conference run to 12 games. Grant volleyed Ryan Williams' cross past keeper Scott Tynan just when it seemed the Shots would have to settle for a point in a match they dominated.
Tynan was the busier of the two keepers although Aldershot's Mark Molesley was guilty of some poor finishing.
But Shots keeper Nikki Bull had to be alert to deny Chris Hope.
