Dagenham survived a late scare to beat St Albans 4-2 and maintain the pressure on Conference leaders Oxford. Paul Benson, Craig Mackail-Smith and David Rainford all scored for the hosts to make it 3-0 at half-time.
But Saints fought back through a Damien Batt 30-yarder on 65 minutes, and a Paul Hakim header 14 minutes later.
But Mackail-Smith soothed the home fans' nerves with a fine header of his own from Paul Bruce's cross to restore the two-goal cushion.
