Luke Moore's first goal for Gravesend gave the visitors the victory over struggling Forest Green. Summer signing Moore converted Jon Keeling's cross from close range in the 28th minute, to leave Rovers without a point from their first four games.
Midfielder Leslie Afful flashed a volley wide, but Rovers struggled to break Gravesend's defence down.
And a lack of quality in the final third made it clear why they have failed to score a goal this season.
