The Conference is looking into the status of midfielder Solomon Taiwo. After playing in the USA, Taiwo joined Maidenhead before moving on to other clubs, including Weymouth - allegedly without international clearance.
The Conference is now investigating the matter with the FA's help, and if it deems necessary, will call an enquiry.
But the BBC understands that any possible sanctions are unlikely to affect Weymouth, who clinched promotion to the Conference National on Saturday.
Taiwo played two games for the Terras in the autumn, in which they collected four points.
