| Benin stay on track ![]() Benin have never qualified for the Nations Cup Anicet Adjamonsi took advantage of the confusion in the Tanzanaian defence to score the first goal inside 10 minutes. The Squirrels, as the Beninois team is known, increased pressure on the hapless East Africans, who lost their temper and were cautioned by the referee. After Benin's second goal in the 39th minute, it was clear that Taifa Stars were ill-equipped for the encounter. In the second half, Omar Tchomogo was brought down in the Tanzanian box and he comfortably converted the penalty in the 71st minute. Moussa Latoundji, who plays for Cottbus in Germany, sealed victory for the West Africans with the fourth goal. Abedi Pel�, the ex-Ghana international and past African Footballer of the Year, watched the match and expressed his pleasant surprise with the quality of football displayed by Benin. The Squirrels' face Zambia in their next match, coming up in October. |
