Auxerre happy to let Fadiga leave
Guy Roux
Roux has already moved to replace Fadiga
Auxerre coach Guy Roux has said he is happy to have Senegal star Khalilou Fadiga leave the club.

Fadiga has been seeking a move away from the club since the end of Senegal's successful World Cup campaign, and may well leave in the summer, if not before.

His contract expires in 2004 and Auxerre will be keen to make some money from Fadiga before he becomes a free agent under the Bosman ruling.

And Roux said he was used to the regular drain of talent from the club.

"I've lost a lot of players like these since I started my coaching career," Roux told the sports daily L'Equipe.

Khalilou Fadiga
Fadiga has made no secret of his desire to leave
"I saw players like (Eric) Cantona, Laurent Blanc, (Sabri) Lamouchi and (Joel) Bats go. So I'm used to this.

"It has always been like this here at Auxerre so you have to accept it."

Fadiga has stated he is keen to go to England, with Liverpool his favoured destination.

Roux has already moved to bring in Ivory Coast winger Gauthier Akale from FC Zurich as a direct replacement for Fadiga.

"We don't only live in the present. We have prepared ourselves for the future," he said.

French international striker Olivier Kapo and defender Jean-Alain Boumsong have also made it clear they want to leave.
