Former Liberia striker George Weah says he has settled his differences with the country's FA, and wants to help them boost the image of Liberian football.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Sport Online, Weah said he did not yet have a specific task, but would do "anything I can for Liberia."

They have many better coaches than me in Liberia

"It depends on what they want," he revealed.

"I could help with contracts, and improve the image of the country in the world."

"Image is very important in football."

And he added he had settled his argument after receiving an apology from the Liberia FA regarding their treatment of him.

Weah had said he would never return to Liberia after feeling unappreicated and being personally criticised for his role in the team's failure to qualify for the 2002 World Cup.

But now he says he is prepared to forget the past.

"I believe in peace," Weah said.

Staying away

"I have accepted the apology. I have nothing against the national team."

And he added that in the future, he may even consider coaching the Lone Star, but not for a while yet.

"I cannot coach them yet because I have no wish to go back to Liberia now," he said.

"What I wish to do is learn coaching. Maybe in four or five years, I might become a coach, and might even be the Liberia coach.

"But for now I'm staying away from that.

"They have many better coaches than me in Liberia."
