Egypt face Brazil in Under-20 World Cup opener

Ghana won the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt

Egypt will face Brazil in the opening game of the Under-20 World Cup finals in Colombia on 29 July after Wednesday's draw.

After their Group E opener Egypt will then play Panama and Austria in the cities of Barranquilla and Cartagena.

The Egyptians are one of four African sides bidding to follow in the footsteps of Ghana by winning the Under-20 World Cup.

Mali's reward for reaching the finals is to face hosts Colombia in Group A.

The West African's first game will be against South Korea before they face Colombia and will end their group campaign against their former colonial power France in a group that will be based mainly in the Colombian capital Bogota.

Cameroon are in Group B and are still waiting to find out who their first opponents will be as the Champions of Oceania are yet to be be decided.

After that Cameroon will play Portugal and finally Uruguay in Group based in Cali.

Nigeria, who were runners-up at the 2009 Under-17 World Cup that they hosted, are in Group D where they will play Guatemala, Croatia and Saudi Arabia in the cities of Armenia and Pereira.

The top two from each group and the best third-placed sides will go through to the last 16 of the event.

The four African sides qualified for the World Cup by reaching the semi-finals of the African Youth Championship is South Africa, reigning continental and world champions Ghana failed to reach the last four.
