Nigeria squad at the African Youth Champs reduced to 18
Nigeria's Ahmed Musa has returned to Holland from the African Youth Championship
Nigeria will have to continue their African Youth Championship campaign with a squad of just 18 players.
Star winger Ahmed Musa has now returned to his Dutch Club VVV Venlo after helping the Flying Eagles beat Ghana 2-1 in their opening game.
Musa may return to the under-20 squad later in the tournament.
However Mackson Ojobo and Gomo Onduku, who were dropped for 'technical reasons, will not be replaced for the tournament in South Africa.
No further official explanation has been given for the duo's departure from the squad.
Originally Musa had hoped to shuttle between Holland and South Africa throughout the tournament but it now seems unlikely that he will return to the Flying Eagles squad before the semi-final stage if they get that far.
It means that coach John Obuh will only have 18 players to chose from for the next two group games against Cameroon on Thursday and The Gambia three days later, unless Musa makes a surprise return from Holland.
