Egyptian football matches postponed for this weekend

Continuing protests in Egypt have caused a postponement of the league

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has postponed league matches scheduled for this weekend.

The 16th round of the domestic competition has been put back because of continued political unrest.

Reports say the EFA decision was taken at the request of security authorities but that has not been confirmed.

Clashes between anti-government protesters and police have continued across large parts of the country for several days.

The delayed matches, which would have represented the start of the second-half of the league season, will be played at a later date.

League leaders Zamalek are out of the country preparing to start their African Champions League campaign with a game against Ulinzi Stars in Kenya.
