The coach of Ghana's locally based Black Stars is aiming for victory in this year's African Nations Championship tournament (CHAN).

Ghana are in group B with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger for the tournament which kicks off on 4 February.

Ghana were beaten finalists at the maiden event in Ivory Coast two years ago and Herbert Addo wants his team to take it a step further.

"Our chances this year are very high," Addo told BBC Sport.

"Provided the weather is okay and the referees are fair, we don't have a problem," Addo said in Nairobi, where the team is training at high altitude ahead of the tournament.

Addo believes that the pain of losing to the DR Congo in the final two years ago, will push his side to triumph at the tournament.

"So far our training has gone on very well," He added.

The competition in Sudan will see the tournament change from an eight team format, to 16 teams.

Only locally based teams can take place in the tournament.

Of the 23 players Ghana took to Ivory Coast only one, striker Stephen Manu, has been retained by Coach Addo.
