West Africa giants Ivory Coast suffered a shock when they were defeated 2-1 by Rwanda in their Group B game of the Cecafa Cup on Sunday.
The Elephants, who are playing in the tournament at guests, broke the deadlock on 19 minutes.
Striker Konadio N'dri Fabrice took advantage of a defensive slip up to beat Rwanda goalkeeper Jean Ndayishime.
Rwanda restored parity on the stroke of half-time when Dady Birori soared to head in a Haruna Niyonzima corner.
Peter Kagabo sealed the shock win with a 77th minute header that beat Ivorian goalie Sangare Dadra.
Despite the win, Rwanda's Ghananian tactician Sillas Tetteh is cautious about his team's chances in the two-week tournament.
"There are still two matches in the preliminaries to think further ahead," Tetteh said.
"We won because we had the ability to turn a defeat into a win," he added.
His Ivorian counterpart Koudio Georges blamed his team's defeat on inexperience.
"It is a young side that still has a lot to learn, one of them being taking chances," he told the media.
Meanwhile, Zanzibar also sealed a shock victory after defeating Sudan 2-0 in the other Group B game on Sunday
Ali Ahmed was the hero as he scored both goals to seal a major win for the islanders.
Two Group C matches will be played on Monday with holders Uganda taking on Ethiopia while Malawi play Kenya.
The 12 teams have been put into three groups of four, with the top two sides in each pool qualifying for the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-place finishers.
