South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena has vowed to recover from a groin injury in time to play this weekend's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Sierra Leone.
Mokoena sustained the injury while helping Portsmouth to a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
But South Africa's team doctor has said the injury is only 'mild'.
"I missed the last match in Freetown, where we lost 1-0, due to injury, but there's no way I will miss this one," said a determined Mokoena.
"I am going to play, that is if coach (Pitso Mosimane) selects me, but there is no way I am missing this trip."
The 2010 World Cup hosts lead Group G in 2012 Nations Cup qualifying after beating Niger 2-0 in their opening clash last month.
Group rivals Egypt and Sierra Leone are tied for second after a 1-1 draw in Cairo.
