Obilale is still unable to walk since the attack in January

Togo goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale will receive $100,000 from Fifa after being seriously injured before the African Nations Cup in January.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter had told Obilale in September that a payment of $25,000 would be made from the governing body's humanitarian fund.

But the world body has now decided to raise that sum.

The 25-year-old keeper needed surgery for gunshot wounds to his back and abdomen following the attack.

The attack, in the Angolan province of Cabinda, killed two members of Togo's delegation.

Obilale is still unable to walk eight months after the machine-gun attack by separatist rebels and is still continuing his rehabilitation in France.

Togo pulled out of the Nations Cup finals following the attack and were given a four-year ban from the competition by the African Confederation of Football (Caf).

The ban was overturned following mediation by Fifa.

Frustrated at the lack of assistance from Caf and Angolan organisers, Obilale wrote to Fifa president Blatter in August requesting assistance.

The Swiss promised funds from a Fifa humanitarian fund even though he said football's world governing body could not be held responsible for the 'tragic' attack.

Obilale has publicly lamented the lack of assistance from Caf and Angolan officials after an attack which has effectively ended his football career.

The former player in France's lower divisions is unable to move his right leg below his knee, nor feel his feet, but does hope he'll be able to walk in the distant future.

Currently using a wheelchair to move around, he has said that he feels his treatment would have been different had he been a bigger name.

"If I was famous player like (Didier) Drogba and others, I don't think things would have happened like this," he told Associated Press in September.
