NFA chief John Muinjo says Saintfiet is still Namibia's coach

The Namibian FA is insisting that Belgian Tom Saintfiet is still their coach, rather than Zimbabwe's.

The Zimbabwean FA (Zifa) named Saintfiet as their new manager this weekend even though the Belgian is still under contract with Namibia.

"As far as we are concerned, Saintfiet still has a contract with us," John Muinjo, chairman of the Namibian FA (NFA), told BBC Sport.

"He hasn't resigned and has effectively gone AWOL."

"He normally informs us when he goes out of town but he didn't this time and we've been trying to locate him for the last week."

Muinjo further lamented the fact that Zifa have failed to make contact with his association.

"We are both members of the southern African Football Association (Cosafa) and it's appropriate for them to deal with us but this hasn't happened - it's a bit unsporting."

And the head of Namibian football didn't rule out claiming compensation should Saintfiet abandon his four-year contract halfway through.

"There's need for compensation but we will deal with this at an appropriate time," Munijo added.

"It looks like a done deal with Zimbabwe at this point in time, which would clearly be a breach of contract."
