Djoliba set up clash with Mazembe in Champions League

African Champions League trophy
Djoliba will face Champions League title holders Mazembe in the third round

Mali giants Djoliba have lined up a third round Champions League clash with holders TP Mazembe after edging past ASC Linguere on Monday.

Djoliba beat Senegalese side 4-3 on penalties in Dakar after their second round tie ended 1-1 on aggregate.

Linguere, buoyed by their passionate fans, won the second leg match in regulation time after a 38th minute strike by Moussa N'Gom.

The result left the tie levelled at 1-1 after Djoliba won the first leg 1-0 in Bamako two weeks ago.

But the visitors held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out, converting four spot-kicks to Linguere's three. Sixteen teams have now qualified for the third round of the competition and will again play over two legs, beginning 23 April, for a place in the eight-team group stage.
