Bafana Bafana fans are keen on the team's good showing

Hosts South Africa have still to select their training venue for June's World Cup finals, contrary to reports.

Earlier this week, a leading South African FA (Safa) official cited 'the big embarrassment' of having to change training venues with less than four months to go until the finals.

It was said that Esselen Park, which needed plenty of refurbishment, had been swapped for Sandown High School.

Yet Danny Jordaan says a decision has still to be taken.

"The question of where the team is going to train is the choice of coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, and that consultation is ongoing because of the recent move," said Jordaan, the CEO of South Africa's World Cup organising committee.

"The coach must be satisfied and the Sandown High School is one of the options he is looking at - but he is still considering them."

Bafana Bafana will be based for the tournament at the Southern Sun hotel in the northern Johannesburg suburb Sandton.

Despite having won the right to host the World Cup six years ago, the South Africans were forced to change their training venue because of delays in refurbishment work.

"It's a big embarrassment to us as World Cup hosts that we have to settle for second best," said South African FA chief executive Leslie Sedibe at the time.

Sedibe, who was only appointed to his post last month, slammed previous Safa officials for having done nothing to kick-start Esselen Park's redevelopment.
