Uganda reach Cecafa final

Uganda's Cranes are through to the final of the Cecafa Senior Challenge

Defending champions Uganda have reached the final of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

The Cranes beat Zanzibar 2-1 in the first semi-final of the East and Central African regional tournament.

The Ugandans had earlier dumped hosts Kenya out of the competition after a 1-0 win in the quarter finals.

They will now meet the winner of the second semi-final between Tanzania and Rwanda which will take place in Nairobi on Thursday.

Uganda raced into into the lead with the opener from Stephen Bengo in the second minute.

Adbulahim Homoud then scored an own goal in the twelfth minute to give the Ugandans a two goal lead.

Zanzibar pulled one back in the 75th minute with a goal from Abdulla Abdulghani

The final of the competition will take place on Sunday.
