Floodlight failure interrupted Spain v USA at the Under-17 World Cup
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for Kano at the Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria says there will not be a repeat of the floodlight failure that stopped play on Monday.
Spain and the USA had to play 14 minutes of additional time after power surges twice knocked out the lights at the stadium, causing play to be abandoned for several minutes.
The build up to the Under-17 World Cup was beset by problems, with Fifa having to get government assurances that Nigeria would be ready to host the event
Ado Salisu, a member of the Kano LOC said a fault in the capacitor, which distributes electricity to the floodlights, had caused the problem.
He apologised for the power "surge" and said it would be resolved shortly.
"We have since identified the problem and we are looking to sort it out as soon as possible," Salisu told BBC Sport.
"The Sports minister [Sani Ndanusa] is here to ensure everything is put in place to prevent such occurrence in future matches.
"We apologise to the teams, officials and fans and promise this will not happen again in subsequent matches."
The next games in Kano are on Thursday between Malawi and the USA followed by the UAE against Spain.
