Nigeria coach Shaibu Amodu has drafted in Portsmouth striker John Utaka to the Super Eagles squad for the forthcoming game against Tunisia.
Utaka makes the cut ahead of the Club Brugge striker Joseph Akpala, who was also in contention.
Amodu has also added Obinna Nwaneri to the line-up, preferring him to Dickson Etuhu and Danny Shittu.
The game in Abuja is a potentially decisive one for the Super Eagles hopes of making South Africa 2010.
A win would take Nigeria into top spot in Group B, but defeat would leave them five points behind Tunisia with only two games to play.
Amodu left strikers Yakubu Ayegbeni and Obafemi Martins out of the squad because of injury concerns.
