Eight teams are vying for Africa's most prestigious club prize

The draw for the group stage of the 2009 African Champions League sees the two Sudanese clubs in the same group.

Al Merreikh and Al Hilal are together in Group A, and will meet in the opening round of matches.

They are joined in the group by Kano Pillars of Nigeria and Zambia's Zesco United.

Group B has Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, Nigerian club Heartland, TP Mazembe of DR Congo and Monomotapa of Zimbabwe.

The group matches begin on the weekend of 17-19 June, and run through until mid-September.

Etoile du Sahel and Al Merreikh were the two top seeds, while TP Mazembe and Al Hilal were in the second pot of seeds.

The seedings were based on past performance in continental club competitions over the past five years.
