Boco was racially abused two weeks ago in a league match in Ireland
Benin captain Romauld Boco has accepted a personal apology from a player who racially abused him in Ireland's Premier League.
Bohemians defender Jason McGuinness expressed regret for the use of an "unacceptable" phrase during the game against Boco's team Sligo Rovers two weeks ago.
He added that he is "delighted" that the apology has been accepted.
McGuinness, who was given a short suspension by his club for abusing Boco, faces at least a five-game ban from the Football Association of Ireland.
In a statement, McGuiness said: "I am aware that what I said was inexcusable, but by way of explanation, I would point out that it was made in the heat of a hard fought encounter and was a one-off occurrence.
"This incident has reinforced to me the importance of the Show Racism the Red Card campaign and I am very anxious to get involved in this initiative to help stamp out all forms of racism in football and society.
Boco captained Benin at last year's Africa Cup of Nations.
