Zambian club Mufulira Wanderers have been given a two-week break from matches by the country's football association to give them time to sort out their problems.

Wanderers, one of Zambia's most famous clubs, are in a financial crisis after losing their sponsorship from a mining company.

Club secretary Rainford Kalaba Snr says that the club needs to find a new sponsor to enable them to fulfil their fixtures.

Wanderers are one of four clubs that have lost their sponsorship as mining companies in Zambia's Copperbelt region have been affected by the global financial crisis, with copper prices falling.

The feared demise of theclub would create a dark cloud in Zambian football as Wanderershave previously produced players like 1988 African Footballer of the Year Kalusha Bwalya.

Other Wanderers greats include late veteran coach Samuel "Zoom" Ndhlovu, current FA vice-president Emmanuel Munaile and former Anderlecht star Charles Musonda.
