Bwalya will not take part in the Caf executive committee elections
Zambia FA president Kalusha Bwalya has pulled out of the race for a position on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

He was up against Suketu Patel of the Seychelles, who will now retain his post unopposed as the representative for Southern Africa.

"I've done this in the interests of unity in Southern Africa," Bwalya told BBC Sport.

"I don't want to be fighting Mr Patel, because we're all doing this for the good of football in our region.

"My chance will come I'm sure one day, but for now I've decided to stand aside."

Representation on the Caf executive committee is on a zonal basis, and elections for positions in the other regions will take place on Wednesday at the Caf Congress in the Nigerian city of Lagos.
