Rwanda's under-20 team got off to a flying start

Hosts Rwanda have claimed victory in the opening game of the African under-20 championship.

The Amavubi beat Mali 2-1 to get off to a great start in their own tournament.

Jean Mugiraneza put Rwanda into the lead in the seventh minute of the match.

Sow Samba of Mali equalised 20 minutes later, but Rwanda's Elias Uzamukunda banged home the winner with half an hour to go.

Opening goal scorer Mugiraneza was named man of the match for his performance.

In the second game in group A Ghana drew 1-1 with Cameroon.

Jacques Daogari put Cameroon in front with a goal in the first minute of the game.

But the Ghana captain Dede Ayew equalised and it finished one-apiece.
