Ahly's fanatical fans saw their team take a potentially decisive lead
Egypt's Al Ahly have taken a big lead after the first leg of the Champions League final against Coton Sport.
But their 2-0 win in Cairo did not deliver a knock-out blow to the Cameroonian underdogs.
Both Ahly goals came in the first quarter hour, as first Wael Gomaa and then Flavio put the Egyptians in front.
Ahly had plenty of other chances but Coton Sport held on to keep some hope of a turnaround in Garoua in a fortnight's time.
Playing in front of a packed house in the Cairo International Stadium, Coton Sport seemed unsure of themselves and allowed the home side too much space.
Indeed Ahly missed several chances to give themselves an even bigger lead.
Ahly coach Manuel Jose sent his team out in an attacking formation and the five-times champions caused constant trouble for the Cameroonian visitors.
But after the break Coton Sport collected themselves and came more into the game.
And they fashioned enough chances to give the impression that the tie is not yet over.
Ahly have the advantage and must be favourites to extend their remarkable history, but after early nerves Coton Sport kept themselves in the tie.
