A goal in injury time from Mohamed Aboutrika earned Al Ahly a dramatic 2-1 victory over Dynamos in the Champions League in Cairo on Sunday.
The Egyptian giants raced into the lead in the Group A game with a goal from Angolan Flavio in the 5th minute.
The Zimbabweans rallied and launched several incursions into Al Ahly's penalty area, but striker Edward Sadomba and midfielder Phillip Marufu were profligate before the break.
Dynamos improved their play after the interval and midfielder Lazarus Muhoni headed home a deserved equaliser with only ten minutes remaining.
The visitors defended well after the equaliser and the match seemed certain to end in a draw.
However, a loss of concentration four minutes into stoppage time presented substitute Aboutrika with the late chance and the Al Ahly man made no mistake from close range.
The result puts Al Ahly in charge of with seven points, three ahead of local arch-rivals Zamalek who were held to a goalless draw by Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast on Saturday.
Asec were reduced to 10 men after just 17 minutes when midfielder Yao Kouassi was sent off for two bookable offences.
But the visitors made the match a competitive affair with strong showing from their defenders.
It was only in the final 15 minutes that Zamalek took the upper hand, but Asec managed to defend and hold on for a point.
Zamalek have four points and Asec have two from three games.
