Obasi is again involved in a club versus country dispute

Nigeria officials say Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi will remain at the Olympics despite being asked to return to Germany by his club 1899 Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim sent a letter on Monday to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) asking for the striker to return.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has ruled in favour of clubs who wanted keep their players away from the Games.

But the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has defied the club order.

It insists that Ogbuke will play on for the "Dream Team IV".

"It is not going to happen, Obasi is here until the end of the Olympics," said NFF secretary-general Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

"No one will force him to return to Germany."

Hoffenheim released Obasi for the Olympics reluctantly, saying that he is a key player in their first-ever campaign in the Bundesliga, which kicks off on Saturday.

A threat to the player's family forced the German club to have a change of heart.

But the letter signed by Hoffenheim coach, Ralf Rangnick, and presented to the NOC in Beijing, asks for Obasi's immediate return to Germany.

Samson Siasia says that Hoffenheim are being unfair.

"We are aware of some pressure but Obasi is here for the Olympics and will conclude the assignment with Nigeria," Siasia told BBC Sport.

"The club is just being unfair to ask for him to return at this point."
