Al Ahly goalkeeper denies Asec

Ahmed Hassan nearly won the game for Al Ahly

Goalkeeper Amir Abdul-Hamid made a series of superb saves to help Al Ahly force a 0-0 draw with dominant Asec Mimosas in the Champions League on Saturday.

He repeatedly thwarted the home team in Abidjan to earn the Egyptians a precious point from their first Group A away outing.

Asec's Mangoua Kesse had a chance to snatch victory four minutes into stoppage time, but his weak header was easily claimed by the keeper.

Ahly came closest to snatching an undeserved victory five minutes into the second half when recent signing Ahmed Hassan found himself unmarked at the far post only to nod a cross wide.

Ahly now have four points from their first two games.

Sudanese side Al Hilal remain top of Group B following their away goalless draw to TP Mazembe on Saturday.

The DR Congo club were hoping to take advantage of the partisan crowd in Lubumbashi to get their first group win but the visitors held firm.

Despite several goalmouth scrambles and clearances off the line, TP Mazembe were not able to score.

The result keeps Al Hilal on top of the group with four points.
