Fifa suspends Sudan v Chad

Fifa says it will decide shortly what to do about the game
Football's world governing body Fifa has suspended the World Cup qualifying match between Sudan and Chad, which had been scheduled for 31 May.

The move comes after Sudan broke off diplomatic relations with Chad earlier this month.

That followed a rebel attack near the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The Sudanese authorities accused Chad of helping a Darfur rebel group attack the city of Omdurman outside Khartoum - a charge Chad denies.

A day after that Chad closed its border with Sudan and suspended economic ties.

Fifa says it will decide the fate of the match, and of the reverse fixture scheduled for September, at a meeting to be convened shortly.

Mali and Congo-Brazzaville are the other two teams in the group.
