The Moroccan player was booked after protesting against the racial abuse |
The French club whose Moroccan captain claimed he was racially abused during a game wants the match replayed. Valenciennes, who play in the French top-flight, have asked for their Ligue 1 defeat by Metz to be wiped out.
The player concerned, Abdeslam Ouaddou, has filed a complaint with the French legal authorities after the incident in last Saturday's 2-1 loss.
"I want this game to be replayed," Valenciennes chairman Francis Decourriere told reporters on Wednesday.
"I wrote a letter to the president of the Republic, the French Olympic Committee, the Human Rights League and the Football League," he added.
"I would also like this game to be played in front of children from Valenciennes and Metz," he said.
An angry Ouaddou walked towards the stands at halftime to remonstrate with a Metz spectator who had repeatedly insulted him, Valenciennes said in a statement on Sunday.
The referee for the game said he had not realised the abuse had taken place.
Ouaddou was booked following his reaction to the abuse.
The League's disciplinary committee is due to meet on Thursday to study the incident and the referee's report.
