Anichebe on brink of goal record
Everton & Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe
Anichebe celebrates after scoring Everton's second goal against Brann
Teenage Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe is becoming Everton's lucky charm as they surge on in the Uefa Cup.

The youngster scored his fourth goal of this season's tournament in Wednesday night's 2-0 first leg round of 32 win at Brann Bergen in Norway.

He now moves within one of the club record for a European campaign.

Anichebe's colleagues now expect him to score when he is brought on as a substitute to terrorise tiring opponents.

It is a ploy manager David Moyes has used to good effect this season.

Everton have won six successive European matches on the back of the youngster's strength.

Midfielder Lee Carsley said, "The boss is using Victor very cleverly. We see him coming on now in the last 20 minutes of games and we are expecting him to score.

"He is so powerful and quick he is not the sort of player that defenders want to see coming off the bench.

"I certainly would not want to see him doing that to us!"

Leon Osman opened the scoring for Everton as they slowly ground down their determined Norwegian opponents.

Anichebe added the killer second as Everton headed into next the second leg full of confidence.
