Kaizer Chiefs fans are celebrating the SA League Cup win |
Kaizer Chiefs beat league champions Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on penalties to win South Africa's League Cup on Saturday.
Chiefs won the games thanks to the heroics of 20-year-old keeper Itumeleng Khune after a the match ended goalless.
Khune, playing only his 12th game for the club and suffering with cramp, saved three penalties in the shoot-out to help his side to the victory.
It was their second win of three knockout trophies during the South African season.
The game was the seventh meeting between the teams in a cup final since 1992 with Chiefs' keeping up a 100 percent record.
The two hours of football provided few chances but former Charlton Athletic striker Shaun Bartlett came closest to breaking the deadlock.
His close-range volley in extra time was saved by Sundowns' goalkeeper Brian Baloyi.
