Madjid Bougherra has been banned for violent conduct |
Madjid Bougherra has been banned by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) from playing in Algeria's first two 2010 World Cup qualifiers. The Charlton Athletic defender and team mate Mehdi Meniri, who plays for French club Bastia, were suspended for violent conduct during a game against Gambia.
The north Africans lost 2-1 to the Scorpions in September in an African Nations Cup qualifier.
The result meant the Desert Foxes missed out on the 2008 finals in Ghana.
