Gyan dreaming of England
Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan
Gyan is back in scoring form for Udinese

Asamoah Gyan has revealed his desire to leave Italian football and play in the English Premier League in the future.

"It's my dream to play in a country like England," the Ghana and Udinese striker told BBC Sport.

"When I was young, I prayed to play in Italy.

"I've been in Italy for four years, so now I'm looking to England."

The 21-year-old marksman, who scored the fastest goal at the 2006 World Cup, has been linked to Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal in the Italian media.

"If maybe a club comes for me, I'll be very very happy, but I'm still young.

"I'm a Manchester United fan, but I'm not thinking of this club at the moment.

"Ultimately, it will depend on my performances whether I can make it to a big club."

Gyan is on a high at the moment after scoring in Udinese's last two Serie A matches.

It followed a barren spell for the Ghana forward.

"I'm very very happy personally because it's been a long time since I scored for the team," he said.

"I started well in pre-season training, but unfortunately I scored only once in seven games."

Nations Cup

Although keen to carry on performing for his club, Gyan has half an eye on January's Nations Cup which will be taking place in his home country.

Ghana are set to face Guinea, Morocco and Namibia in what is possibly the tournament's most comfortable group, but Gyan disagrees.

"For me, it's not an easy group because football has changed," he said.

"It's not like the past when you could say this country is going to beat that country.

"Everybody has improved their performances, but it all depends on us.

"If we work hard and play well, everything will be on our side because we are playing at home. That will be one advantage for us."
