Egypt suffered a 4-1 defeat in a friendly against Japan in Osaka on Wednesday. The Pharaohs were without seven Ahly players who were being rested ahead of the Champions League final.
Mido was also absent, while Japan were without several key players.
Egypt were already 3-0 down when Mohamed Fadle headed in a Hosni Abdrabo free kick in the 58th minute.
Yoshito Okubo scored twice for Japan, their other goals coming from Ryoichi Maeda and Akira Kaji.
Egypt's recent form has been uninspiring, and they took the last remaining Nations Cup place on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Botswana.
The Nations Cup holders will begin their pre-tournament training camp for the 2008 competition on 25 December.
