Sherington has been sacked by the Sierra Leone FA |
Sierra Leone coach John Jebbor Sherington and his entire technical staff have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
The sackings came two days after the Leone Stars lost to Benin in their final Nations Cup qualifying match on Friday.
Sherington and his team have been fired because of the poor run of results throughout the Nations Cup campaign," Alimu Bah, the secretary-general of the Sierra Leone Football Association told BBC Sport.
Sierra Leone could only secure a solitary point during the entire campaign, making it the worst for the country since Caf introduced the qualifying group system in the 1992.
Sherington was in charge of all bar two games of the entire qualifying campaign, but failed to win a single one during his four-year reign.
Sherington's dismissal has been welcomed by many football fans in the country who have been calling for him to go long before now.
