Berti Vogts wants Mikel to apologise to his international team-mates |
Nigeria have recalled midfielder John Mikel Obi for next week's friendly against Macedonia in Skopje.
Mikel, who last played for the Super Eagles in March, is part of a 21-man squad for the game on 22 August.
The 20-year-old was suspended by the NFA when he withdrew from a Nations Cup qualifier against Uganda in June.
A club-versus-country row had erupted between Premiership side Chelsea and Nigeria over the nature of the injury that forced him to miss the match.
Mikel's failure to turn up in Uganda led coach Berti Vogts to drop him from the side that defeated Niger 3-1 in another Nations Cup qualifier two months ago.
But Mikel has since apologised to the NFA and Vogts. He will also have the opportunity to formerly apologise to his team-mates in the Macedonian capital as demanded by Vogts.
NFA spokesman Ademola Olajire said: "It is indeed an opportunity for Mikel to tender his apology to the entire players; I believe this would foster good spirit and understanding."
CSKA Moscow defender Chidi Odiah, who has not played for Nigeria since the 2006 African Nations Cup because of a serious injury has also been recalled.
Uncapped Spain-based striker Ikechukwu Uche, who plays for Getafe, is expected to gain his first international cap in Skopje.
Vogts revealed that the Super Eagles will also face Slovenia in Ljubljana on 17 November instead of original opponents Austria.
