The Football Association of Zambia (Faz) is to offer Frenchman Noel Tosi the job of coaching the country's national team.

Tosi was fired as coach of Congo-Brazzaville in April and has also had a spell in charge of Mauritania.

Faz deputy spokesperson, Henry Sichembe, confirmed to BBC Sport that Tosi is highly thought of by the association's executive.

"Our first choice opted out because he decided to take up another job elsewhere," Sichembe explained.

"For that reason, we had to fall back on the second person and in this particular case, it is Tosi.

Sichembe added that Faz was hoping to appoint Tosi by the end of August on a three year contract.

Sichembe said Tosi was likely to be in charge when Zambia plays South Africa in their must-win African Cup of Nations qualifier next month.
