Nwankwo Kanu has promised to score more goals than last season |
Nigeria's Nwankwo Kanu has promised to score even more goals this season after signing a new contract with Premier League side Portsmouth. The 31-year-old, who was the club's top scorer last season with 12 goals, said: "I believe I can better last season's total as the team is stronger now.
"So long as we keep the team-spirit together we can better our position."
Kanu signed a new one-year deal with an option for another year if he plays more than 15 games this term.
Kanu is also looking forward to linking up with international team-mate John Utaka, Pompey's 7 million buy from French side Rennes.
He said: "It is good to be teaming up with John.
"I told him about the club and the supporters and they proved to be the main reason I wanted to come back here."
