Geremi was wanted by a number of Premier League clubs |
Cameroon international Geremi has admitted it took him just seconds to decide to leave Premier League side Chelsea for Newcastle United. The 28-year-old who joined on a free transfer, is the Magpies' fourth close-season signing.
Geremi said it was not difficult for him to decide to leave the double Premier League champions.
"As soon as I heard that Newcastle were interested, I said yes straight away because it's such a big club," he said.
"Newcastle United have always had huge ambition and amazing fans, a factor I have always appreciated whenever I have played at St James' Park.
"I will now be more happy to play with the fans behind me.
"The fans are the 12th man and when you see them, they are always there pushing you on, which is good for the players.
"It is a big challenge for me and I hope to help the team achieve something because I know Newcastle have not won anything for a lot of years now.
"The manager will decide if I play in midfield or defence, but the most important thing is to be part of the team, and I'm looking forward to that."
